Kennesaw State Basketball: Owls fall to FGCU in A-Sun semifinal

KSU ended their 2016-17 campaign with a loss on the road at Florida Gulf Coast in Ft. Myers on Thursday night in the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament semifinals.

Kennesaw State (14-18, 7-7 A-Sun) had a streaky, roller coaster season, but never really suffered any blowouts, except against Michigan on the road early in the season. The team just couldn’t seem to put together a meaningful streak, but had some respectable wins and close losses.

KSU trailed FCCU by only three points at halftime, and kept the game manageable down the stretch, but just couldn’t pull it out in the end, losing to the Eagles 74-62.

The Owls’ second season under head coach Al Skinner was an improvement over their 11-20 record in 2015-16, and the second straight year KSU hit the .500 mark in Atlantic Sun Conference play.

Kennesaw also ended their season last year against Florida Gulf Coast in the A-Sun tournament. The Owls have fallen to FGCU in 14 straight games dating back to the 2010-11 season, but always seem to play the Eagles close.
