Ole Miss adds Southern and Mercer to future football schedules

A pair of Georgia-based division one football programs will be playing games on the road at Oxford, Mississippi in upcoming seasons.

Georgia Southern and Mercer were both added to the list of future football opponents to play the University of Mississippi, it was reported Tuesday.

According to the a report from, Ole Miss added the Eagles to their 2020 football schedule, and the Bears to their 2023 slate.

The report states that Georgia Southern will be paid $1.4 million for the September 12 matchup at Oxford, while Mercer agreed to a $500 thousand payout for their September 2 game.

Both contests are single-game deals to be played in Oxford at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
