Southern accepts invite to College Basketball Invitational tournament

After being blown out in by eventual in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament by eventual champion Troy, the Eagles accepted an invite to the CBI tournament Sunday.

Georgia Southern (18-14, 11-7 Sun Belt) fell over the weekend in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to eventual champion Troy, but had their postseason run revived late Sunday with an invite to the College Basketball Invitational tournament.

The Eagles will host Utah Valley University on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Hanner Fieldhouse. The tournament marks the seventh postseason bid for GSU since becoming a division one program.

This is the first time the Eagles have made a postseason appearances since the 2006 National Invitational Tournament (NIT), and GSU has yet to win a tournament game.

Lower reserved, upper reserved and general admission seating are all $10 per ticket, and courtside seats are $20 each. The game is not a part of the 2016-17 season ticket package, but season ticket holders have until Monday at 11 p.m. to log onto their account and purchase their same seats. That can be done online at GSEagles.com/login or by calling 1 (800) GSU-WINS during regular business hours. Tickets will go on sale to the general public online tonight (Sunday) and can be purchased online at GSEagles.com/tickets or through the direct links above.

The student section will be in section C, and the first 100 students get in free with a valid ID. Students will need to come to one of the ticket windows at Hanner Fieldhouse with their valid student ID in order to obtain a ticket.

All parking will be free and first come, first served for everyone.
